Jasmine is one of the most iconic flowers in the perfume industry, with a rich history dating back to antiquity and continuing to the present day. In the perfume industry, two varieties are used—Jaminum grandiflorum and Jasminum sambac—whose sensual and full-bodied fragrance has been employed to enhance everything from religious ceremonies in India to perfumes in the European perfume trade.
In this lecture, you will learn about the history of jasmine, as well as how it is cultivated and used in the perfume industry. In collaboration with the world-leading raw material producers Laboratoire Monique Rémy and IFF, we will sample both the raw materials and isolated fragrance molecules, side by side with a selection of contemporary perfume interpretations from Nordiska Kompaniet.
