Lecture: With a Scent of Lavender

  • Medelhavsmuseet 2 Fredsgatan Stockholm, Stockholms län, 111 52 Sweden (map)

Please note that this lecture is given in Swedish

The herbaceous lavender is one of the perfume industry’s most beloved and timeless raw materials. Its history extends from the Roman bathhouses to contemporary perfume creation, with an unmistakable scent that has become symbolic not only of the Mediterranean as a geographical region, but also of Western social notions of health and well-being.

In this lecture, you will learn about the history of lavender, as well as how it is cultivated and used in the perfume industry. In collaboration with the world-leading raw material producers Laboratoire Monique Rémy and IFF, we will sample both the raw materials and isolated fragrance molecules, side by side with a selection of contemporary perfume interpretations from Nordiska Kompaniet.
