The blossoms of the bitter orange tree, also known as neroli, are one of the raw materials in the perfume industry most strongly connected to the Mediterranean. Since ancient times, these citrus-scented flowers have added fragrance to everything from gloves and royal bathwater to pastries and cosmetics.
In this lecture, you will learn about the history of neroli, as well as how it is cultivated and used in the perfume industry. In collaboration with the world-leading raw material producers Laboratoire Monique Rémy and IFF, we will sample both raw materials and isolated fragrance molecules, alongside a selection of contemporary perfume interpretations from Nordiska Kompaniet.
